Family Owned By

Eric and Susanne Tappenden have lived in Markham for over thirty years. They are both active members of their church and their community. Eric is a former Board Chair of Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation, Markham Theatre, the Markham Prayer Breakfast, Markhaven Foundation, the Markham Board of Trade and has served in many other organizations including the Markham Sunrise Rotary Club, Bereaved Families of York Region, the York Region Police Appreciation Committee, and is the Vice Chair of the Character Community Foundation of York Region, among others. Susanne & Eric have raised their three children in Markham, the oldest of whom, Glenn, has now joined the team at Chapel Ridge.

Managing Funeral Director

Jessica Competiello grew up in Markham and now lives in Stouffville. She is an active parishioner at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Markham and is on the Board of the Stouffville Chamber of Commerce. She has been with Chapel Ridge since 2000.

Assistant Manager

Rick Evans has been a licensed funeral director for over thirty years, and has worked in positions of responsibility in several of the Toronto area’s largest and finest funeral homes. Rick is active in the community in men’s hockey and at his church, The Olive Branch, and has worked with Hands Across the Nation in short term mission work. Rick has served at Chapel Ridge since 2007.

Manager Chinese Services

Tammy Pak is a long time Markham resident. She has served at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home since 2005. Tammy has previous experience as a bank manager and is active in the community as a member of the York Region Rotary Club and a volunteer at The Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Health. She is also an active parishioner at St Agnes Catholic Church in Markham. Tammy has an expert knowledge of funeral practices of many groups including Evangelical, Protestant, Catholic, Buddhist, Taoist, and many other traditions.
