Obituary for Azniv Sonia Eudjurian
Azniv Sonia Eudjurian (October 14, 1932 – June 3, 2017) passed into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ after a brief illness
Sonia was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon. She was the youngest of five children of Garabed and Aghavni Ekmekjian. Her father died several months before she was born. Despite this tragedy, Sonia grew up in an environment full of love and dignity. After graduation, she became a teacher and headmistress. In 1953, she was swept off her feet by Bedros Eudjurian, a successful businessman from Nicosia, Cyprus. They were married and settled in Nicosia, where she helped run their photography and camera business known as “Photo Bedros” and later raised their two children Hagop and Sylvia.
In 1976, the family settled in Toronto after escaping the war in Cyprus. Once in Canada, Sonia became an active member of the Armenian Evangelical Church of Toronto. She exercised the gift of hospitality and was an amazing cook and hostess. She touched the lives of so many people with her smile and caring spirit.
Sonia was the devoted wife of late Bedros Eudjurian for 47 years, the loving mother of Hagop Eudjurian (Edith) and Sylvia Adourian (Robert), and the cherished Medz Mama of her grandchildren Peter Krikor Adourian and Joy Azniv Adourian.
She is survived by her sister Lois, and predeceased by her sister Marita, her brother Haroutioun and her brother Hovsep.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sonia’s life on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at The Armenian Evangelical Church of Toronto, 2600 14th Avenue, Markham. Visitation will be at 10:00am and a Celebration Service at 11:00am, followed by interment at York Cemetery and lunch at the Church.
