Audrey Adams Obituary
Audrey Louise Adams (nee Porter) December 29th, 1921 to March 4th, 2017 resident of Markham, Ontario. Audrey passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in hospital in Markham. Audrey was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario where her father was teaching at the time. She grew up in Scarborough and then followed in her father’s footsteps as a school teacher. She met Maurice, the love of her life, and became engaged before he went to serve in the Air Force in the second world war. They married in 1945 when the war ended and lived in Scarborough and then Don Mills. There they raised their family while Maurice practiced dentistry and Audrey later continued to teach part time. Audrey enjoyed sewing, knitting, entertaining and spent hours tending her garden.
Audrey was one of three children born to Arnot and Lena Porter. She was predeceased by her brother Don of Kitchener and is survived by her sister Jeanne Jeffery of Colorado Springs. She is survived by her beloved husband Maurice with whom she shared over 71 years of marriage. Together they had three children, 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren (and counting). She will be lovingly remembered by her children Ron Adams (Cathryn), Sharon Garvin (Jim) and Janice Brodie (Gary) and grandchildren Kyla Adams, Kari Adams Badley, Brett, Christy and Bryce Adams, Julie Garvin Huizenga, James, Kevin, Keith and Jeffery Garvin, and Jennifer, Michael, Kristen and Stephen Brodie, and their spouses and children.
Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service Wednesday March 8th, 2017 at 11 am at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue, Markham, Ontario L3R 5H1. There will be visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday March 7th, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and at 10 am on Wednesday March 8th. Interment will follow the funeral The family requests that any donations in Audrey’s memory be made to Bethany Lodge where Audrey spent the last years of her life and with which the family has had a long relationship.
